Details: With the VMA00201, you can tap the TV's audio (from the internal receiver for cable or satellite TV, apps) via the HDMI port. The audio signal is then converted to analog and output via a 3.5 mm jack. The VMA00201 is connected between the TV's HDMI-ARC port and the soundbar's HDMI-ARC port. An HDMI-eARC port can also be used. For power, the adapter is connected to a free USB port using the included cable. The VMA00201 then always turns on together with the TV, so no manual operation is required. Volume control is possible via HDMI-CEC (also called Anynet+, Simplink, VieraLink, EasyLink, BraviaLink). Please note that TVs only have a single HDMI-ARC port. The TV usually mutes the internal speakers when using HDMI-ARC. The adapter has a built-in decoder for multi-channel sound and downmixes to stereo. At the same time, multi-channel sound is passed through via HDMI. This means that a soundbar outputs 5.1 sound, and stereo sound can be heard simultaneously via the headphone jack. The TV remote controls the volume for both the headphones and the soundbar. The logic is as follows: If only the soundbar is connected, the TV remote controls the soundbar volume. If only the headphones (or stereo speakers) are connected, the TV remote controls their volume. If both headphones and the soundbar are connected, the TV remote controls the soundbar volume. The headphone jack remains at maximum volume. The last set volume is saved and used the next time the device is switched on. Note: The analog audio output delivers a standard-compliant audio level of 2 V rms. This can be used to power hearing amplifiers or audio transmitters for Bluetooth, wireless, or infrared headphones. The output level is the same as that of other devices. For people with hearing loss who want to connect headphones directly via cable, the audio level of the output without an amplifier may be too low.
