Details: The ideal addition to the aktiv 05+ or unik 05+ studio monitors to create a compelling 2.1 system with a low-frequency range down to 30 Hz. Of course, the aktiv 10s can also be combined with other small near-field monitors. Thanks to the switchable high-pass filter (HPF) in the outputs and the adjustable low-pass filter (LPF), the subwoofer can be perfectly matched to the connected monitors. The compact cube, measuring 36 cm on each side, weighs just over 12 kg and, with its 10" speaker, provides a tight bass foundation with high impulse fidelity. It is driven by a 150-watt power amplifier. XLR and jack cables are accepted on the input side. Both pairs of sockets (L/R) are symmetrical, but unbalanced, two-pole TS cables can also be connected. The outputs to the monitors are XLR sockets. The input path features a low-pass filter that can be continuously tuned from 50 Hz to 180 Hz. Ideally, you should base your choice on the technical specifications of the monitors – if their reproduction extends down to 80 Hz, for example, you should set the low-pass filter to exactly this value; with the in-house aktiv 05+, you logically select 50 Hz. This prevents low frequencies from the monitor and subwoofer from overlapping, which can lead to unpleasant distortions. The switchable high-pass filter only affects the outputs for looping the stereo signal to the near-field monitors. It kicks in at 100 Hz and can effectively reduce the load on many monitors. This is ideal for very small speakers, but can also be useful for monitors with a lower range. It goes without saying that when activating the high-pass filter, the low-pass filter of the aktiv 10s should also be set to 100 Hz. The "Phase" control allows you to continuously adjust the phase of the subwoofer signal from 0° to 180°. Depending on the location of the subwoofer, cancellations or boosts in the bass range can occur, which can be elegantly avoided by correcting the phase. To make it easy to mute the aktiv 10s for comparison purposes, there is a jack socket on the rear to which you can connect a standard footswitch.
